In December 2015 Butler County Tourism Foundation purchased the Kaufman House with intentions of restoring the building back to its original grandeur and to operate the property as a restaurant, coffee shop, lounge and a boutique hotel with 18 rooms.
The Borough of Zelienople is committed to The Kaufman House Revitalization Project and has purposed to purchase the property from BCTF. BCTF has agreed to the selling and has every intention of continuing to work with Zelienople to ensure success of the project.
The closing will take place approximately on March 15. After which, Zelienople will take over ownership and responsibility of the project.
To date, Butler County Tourism Foundation has invested a significant amount of money to restore the Kaufman House and a substantial amount of those funds will remain devoted to the success of the project.
It is in the best interest of Kaufman House and BCTF to keep the project alive by selling the property to the Borough of Zelienople. All necessary steps are being taken to position Kaufman House for a successful sale and both parties are committed to making a seamless transition.
Although BCTF is unable to see the project through, they are confident that the Borough of Zelienople will carry out the intended revitalization of the property. The Borough of Zelienople has made it clear that they are dedicated to the project and that there is no doubt that Kaufman House is destined to once again play a significant role in the sustained growth of the Zelienople community.
